Rocky Point Studio, July 10, 1990

This is one mean rehearsal!  We are rocking from the moment the tape begins midway, wailing on "Roadrunner".

Listen to "We Both Wobble", tell me we don't mean business from the word go!

Listen to "Return Britain"! Listen to Ted and Frank and Hubie on Return Britain, man! Or if you prefer, just listen to Frank!

Listen to "It's All Right"!  It's scary! Again, listen to Frank and Hubie on this one!  The song itself is almost an afterthought!  It's like two dinosaurs, eating from the same tree!

Listen to "I Know Your Name"!  Just in case you haven't gotten the message: we are in a rocking mood!

....or are we?  What's this???  What is this?!!!!   "Sailing"??? Do I hear "Sailing"???!!  Yes, ladies and gentlefriends, this is the last "Sailing" I have with the Frank lineup. Unless the DATs materialize....or I find a genie in a lamp.....this is it!

Aha!!! I now see why we're so high energy! And confident!  We are to play the following night at Lauterbach's, our first NYC show (with Frank, and also with me!)  It also shows us what our set was...very interesting......(if you can't tell, I'm listening to this as I type.....).....well if this is what we played.....then the people got a good set!  So this is basically what we played, I can reconstruct the set right now,  The set would have been: We Both Wobble, Return Britain, It's All Right, I Know Your Name, The Advocate, Beating A Dead Horse, Is It Safe?, Gimme Fun.
I can't remember what Ball Peen Hammer played.

Man oh man,  Hubie's rhythm playing under Frank's solo...fantastic.  (I'm talking "Beating A Dead Head") Frank's solo is great as well!  Both of these guys always did amazing stuff on this section o
the song, it was definitely a highlight of this era....not the song, but this part of the song.

I sound like some kind of wild animal, even more than usual, singing on "Is It Safe", obviously I had lost my voice.

Ending it all, is a soft version of "Don't Let Me Down"

Another bonus on this: In the early part of the rehearsal we're warming up with a string of covers.....and here you get to hear Hubie play Van Halen's "Ain't Talking Bout Love"!  That's right, ladies and gentlefiends, it's Van Hubert! You also get to hear Ted try to sing "Rock and Roll Girls" which the early (pre-Mike) LOOB did!  I could never reconcile that song with what I knew of LOOB, but apparently they did both of these unlikely songs!  We also do a nice version of Bob Marley's "Jamming" in the beginning of this rehearsal.
