Ruby's, September 23, 1992

Another Ruby's show, this one a few days later.

Steve is back with the band, and we seem to have ironed out most kinks with the sound, vocals are a little tighter,  Ted is playing bass.   Lawrence is having a a better night on this tape, some really nice stuff.

"Soon Come" is still in its infancy here, it's coming along, but we're still just making up lyrics and melodies and stuff....finding our way and praying for a miracle! Instead what we get is one of the most spectacular feedback blasts in all of LOOB's recorded history, I kid you not.  It's so spectacular, the audience actually applauds it.

As with the previous show, we still have problems remembering some of the acoustic songs - listening to this now, I'm remembering that we were alarmed, we couldn't believe we couldn't remember "What You Say" and "I'm Crying"!  We were highly embarrassed!  Almost shaken!  I also am remembering now that the reason we didn't play "I'm Crying" at the previous show was because of the chatter from the restaurant, we played "Caveman" or some other soft song and quickly realized it wasn't worth it!

Just to reiterate, Ruby's was a restaurant with a back area for music, on the Upper West Side.  Or was it the Upper East Side, I can't even remember.  It was uptown.  These are the only two shows we played at Ruby's.  The first one was on a Sunday, this was a few days later on the Wednesday, then we played that Friday at Nightingale's.

I remember a close family friend, poet Paul Genega, came to see this show.  He liked the show but then he leaned in and said candidly, "Lose the Spanish music." Ha!
