We sound good. Nothing really to say about this one. I don't know about you, but these '92 shows can blend together a bit. At the time, we rehearsed seldom. We rehearsed at Mystery Fez, but that wound down this very month actually, June of 1992. We rehearsed at The Red House some. But we never again had the vibes that existed at the office space, and the Rocky Point house, both of which were conducive to long rehearsals where we could woodshed and also hang out. So - although we still did have a good sized repertoire - the same songs keep coming up. But with LOOB, it wasn't what we played, it was how we played it! And on this date, we turn in a solid show!

One of my favorite LOOB flyers. It came in a variety of colors, the scans don't do them justice. |
We do this cool "Floating Jam" (as it is often labeled) that cropped up from time to time during this era. Here it pops up between "I Owe" and "It's All Right". Hubie plays some great guitar in the beginning of "It's All Right", by the way. Nice "Someone's In My Head". There's a funny moment where it sounds like Hubie blanks on what's coming next so we do this really nice, soft little diversion before swelling back up and landing on "We're sharing electrons! We're sharing electrons!"
As I've said before, songs like "Someone's In My Head" would usually take a long time to take their final form. This particular song was one that we knew was special, a "biggie", and so were anxious for it to click.....At the same time we were working this song up, we were also in the early stages of a similar tune, "Move Closer" (later "Coffeemaker"). We eventually cannibalized "Move Closer" and took the ending part and stuck it onto the end of "Someone's In My Head".
The only thing that sucks about this show, as usual, is my lead vocals and stage banter (thankfully there's not much of that). Yeah, Mike, we get it, the name of the band is Life Out Of Balance! Still, this is a pretty cool "Some Other", that should make up for the one I posted yesterday!
Cool version of "Smile" also! I don't think I've talked about "Smile", that's a great one that originated in the Frank era. I am pretty sure it was a Mystery Fez tune, I don't think that was around in Rocky Point. So much fun to play, and also it's always handy to have a rocker like this one! It can't all be Bambaledas and one two one twos! Frank used to burn on this one, boy, let me tell you! "Smile" was a contender for the demo we recorded later that year, it was the one song we didn't get to cut. But I believe it is on the Life Out Of Balance album, "My Hero"! So it eventually got recorded properly - though, presumbaly with a wild new arrangement!
Chris got a nice tape on this one. Good mix also.
