NY Avenue, July 7, 1992

Everything I write here is so subjective.  If any of the other guys did this blog, the stories, the memories and especially the perspectives would be completely different.

Everything I write here is subjective.....even as it applies to me!  Case in point: today's tape!

This was one of the earliest tapes I digitized.  Maybe because of the sound quality (not the tops), or maybe our performance was hitting me the wrong way - but I put it in the "Not Great Shows" folder.  I didn't even save the original lossless flac, that's how low I regarded it (I've saved all the others).

I just gave it a second listen....we play a great set!  We're playing and singing great! All five members!  What the hell was methinking?

I've come across this phenomenon many times before, when I go read my old notes from the early 90s, when I first went through all the tapes to figure out what we had and what was on them!  I filled index card after index card with notes - and though they are often helpful, they can't be trusted.

It would actually be great if each band member DID do this blog, ha!  I purposely left this blog "no comments" as I don't want to battle trolls or disgruntled people, and become a comment moderator.  I write "Here's a great "Thundersong", and someone comments "Obama sucks!", who needs that.  We all have our email addresses and those are the only comments I care about.  But if anyone wants to jot down their own "subjective thoughts" about any or all of the shows, or LOOB in general, no problem, I'll sign you up, you can make your own posts!  I, for one, would love to read it!

Well, whatever, for now, listen to us turn in a typically passionate, beautiful, eager-to-please, working-their-asses-off, anything goes set for the long box that was NY Avenue!  Hubie plays some great guitar on this show, by the way, check out "Thundersong", you'll see.

(Normally I try to split the songs up, even when we string them together.  But on some media players, you get a nasty "click" when one track changes to another.  On this tape, we execute a spectacularly fluid 20-minute run of songs: Caveman->I Owe->It's All Right->Thundersong, and for that reason, those songs are all on one file.  If anyone wants to dice them up, be my guest!)

Enjoy LOOB at NY Avenue, 23 years ago tonight!
