The Lion's Den, July 2, 1992 (flyer only)

Lawrence not only made this flyer, I believe he took the photo...or else that's a Lee Friedlander photo!

For some reason, I don't seem to have this show in the archives; perhaps it's buried somewhere in my storage space.  I know for a fact that our May 30th show at the Right Track Inn was definitely recorded, and that show is missing also.  Oh, well, can't win them all!

We had played many shows between April and June at Desmond's, in midtown Manhattan.  (I have yet to post most of those shows!).  Johnny Jones was the promoter at Desmond's, and he started booking a new club near Bleeker Street, The Lion's Den.  I believe this was the opening month of The Lion's Den, or maybe it had just been remodeled or something.....Wikipedia says it opened in 1990, so maybe it's just Johnny Jones who started booking there in July.  Regardless, we played there four times in July of '92 (the 2nd, the 7th, the 15th, and the twenty-something-th).  Never had much of a feel for the place, just felt like a generic club to me - - it stayed open for years; in 2007 it changed hands. It had a new name, and was remodeled, but it looked pretty much like the same old Lion's Den to me!

Lion's Den....or Sullivan Hall? I can't tell the difference!

And finally that place closed down too.

...a buck fifty for draft, two for a shot..ha!  My favorite: "High Ceiling - Low Cover!"  "Hey, Joe...should we go to Sun Mountain....or The Lion's Den?"...."Hmmm....well you know the Lion's Den does have that high ceiling....!"
