We got booked into this Port Jefferson venue for two dates.....I remember it had a wood floor, and my bass drum kept skating across the stage. We address this throughout the show.
Also, as you can hear (especially in "It's All Right", when I am singing about half a bar late, almost as if it were a round), we couldn't hear anything. We address that also!
As Hubie says at one point: "It sounds like shit up here!"
Still, a fun show to listen to! We did the two dates for JKs (this date, and another in early April). We were told "don't worry, we'll have a crowd for you guys". They didn't, and it was a big place. Luckily, we bring a crowd, a rather enthusiastic one as you can hear, but not enough to fill this giant room. After a couple of shows, JK's and LOOB parted ways.
I seem to remember we opened with "Thundersong" because it was pouring out. After this, we never put "Thundersong" and "I Owe" together, as they had similar bass lines! Also, Steve wasn't able to make this show for some reason, I think because of work. Lawrence is great on this tape. Hubie & Ted are good too. I'm ok, the skating bass drum didn't help matters!
The song of 1992 for LOOB was "Someone's In My Head" - at this juncture, however, it's still in not fully together (be warned!). A lot of the uptempo, dance-y tunes like "Someone's In My Head", or "Baby It's Warm Outside" would often take a much longer period of time to nail down than the others.
Strep throat sucks. Stay away from me. Listen to LOOB at JK's instead.
